Therapy practiced in growth, authenticity, and real human connection.

A space to slow down, breathe a little deeper, and explore what it means to be human.

The face behind Emerging Wellness

Hi, I’m Devin (she/her/hers).

I’m a laid-back, direct, and compassionate therapist who values honesty, curiosity, and collaboration. I created Emerging Wellness as a space for therapy that feels grounded, human, and steady, especially for people who have felt rushed, dismissed, or overwhelmed in other settings.

My work is shaped by both professional training and lived experience with illness and trauma, which guides how I show up with care, humility, and respect. I take a trauma-informed, body-aware approach to therapy, blending somatic work, DBT skills, and parts-based approaches at a pace guided by your nervous system. There’s no pressure to perform or have everything figured out. We start where you are.

I’m independently licensed as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) and currently practicing under clinical supervision while completing hours toward LPCC licensure. I’m committed to ongoing learning, supervision, and reflection to support thoughtful, ethical care.

I also approach my work through a social justice lens. While no space is perfectly “safe,” I aim to create a brave one, where you can show up fully and know that I’m engaged in my own learning and unlearning. Therapy with me is a space to explore identity, heal, and make sense of your experiences within the larger world around you.

Outside of sessions, you’ll usually find me spending time with my husband and our cat (Karl, also known as Bubs), watching Bravo, or hunting down the best gluten-free spots in town.

"My approach is collaborative, body-aware, and paced with care. We move slowly enough to feel safe, but intentionally enough to support real meaningful growth."

Under Supervision

Therapy is provided under clinical supervision of Dr. Tamarah Gehlen of Transformational Therapy Services as part of the process of completing licensure hours towards LPCC credentials. The therapist (Devin Werthauser) holds an independent license as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC).

My Approach

Authenticity

Butterfly Only EW.png

Authenticity involves honoring your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without pressure to perform, fix, or minimize them. Therapy provides a space to explore what is genuinely present, allowing insight and growth to develop in a way that feels honest, respectful, and sustainable.

Empathy

Empathy is at the center of how therapy unfolds here. It means listening deeply, without judgment, and seeking to understand your experience from your perspective. Therapy is a space where your feelings, reactions, and struggles are met with care and respect, allowing you to feel seen, understood, and supported as you navigate change.

Measureable Growth

Measurable growth means paying attention to the small but meaningful changes that add up over time. Therapy supports this by helping you notice progress, build self-trust, and recognize shifts in how you relate to yourself and the world around you. Change in grounded in lived experience, not pressure or perfection.

Do I need to know what I want to work on before starting?

Not at all. Many people come to therapy feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or unclear about where to begin. We start with what’s present and build clarity together over time.

What does a first session look like?

The first session is a chance to get to know each other, talk about what brought you in, and begin building a sense of safety and connection. There’s no pressure to share everything at once. We move at a pace that feels supportive and manageable.

How long does therapy last?

The length of therapy varies from person to person. Some clients work with me for a shorter period around a specific concern, while others choose longer-term therapy for deeper exploration and growth. We check in regularly to make sure the work continues to feel aligned.
